If you've known her for less than three months, you should not make this a major project. You haven't learned enough about her personality to make this something to get overly excited about.

A simple charm with a private homemade dinner for two will be enough. Oh, and don't forget the fresh-cut flowers if she is not allergic (find out first). Spending part of the evening together is a special way to show someone you enjoy them, and it is also expressing that you could be the one to do things of that sort as the relationship continues.

A night on the town is also special. Check out a movie of interest that she would like to see. Visiting a dessert or ice-cream store is a sweet and enjoyable outing, as well.

If you have been fortunate enough to be in a relationship for at least six months, and her birthday falls within that period, a romantic dinner at a special restaurant is a great place to start. Because there is something extra to celebrate for being together for six months, follow up with a horse and buggy ride around the city. Don't forget to give her a kiss while riding. And go the extra mile, you Romancer - take a camera along with you to capture the time you are enjoying with her. You won't regret it!

If and only if you can afford to splurge on a gift, do so. I would recommend no more than $50.00, unless you have more to offer. But make sure you have sought out the perfect gift. Ask questions and find out what she likes. You can ask her, her parents, or her closest friend. Be careful here, though, and refrain from getting too personal.

The gift doesn't always have to be boxed (although it is the most romantic). Does she like Broadway, Museums, or Amusement Parks? If so, you could get two tickets for one of these events, which in turn reserves another date for the two of you to enjoy.

If you make it to being in a relationship for a year, feel free to splurge on her birthday a little more. Take a vacation or quick getaway together. At one year, you should feel more comfortable around each other. If this is true, hiking or camping is a good way for you to learn even more about each other. Here you will have to rely on each other to do some things. It can bring you even closer to each other.
